Uptown Girl by Billy Joel - an absolutely irritating song.

I absolutely hate Love Shack. I constantly hear it when I go to the shops or the supermarket and it's practically all that the oldies stations play.

It might have been horrible, but it actually got to number two.

Christmas number one in 1971 - what about the following year's Christmas number one - Long Haired Lover from Liverpool by Little Jimmy Osmond? I didn't know he was a Scouser!

Mr Blobby, anyone? - I must admit that I did get that single as a present on Christmas Day in 1993.

Replaced in the charts (just as it was preceded) both by John Lennon, although it was a pity that it was the same time as when Lennon was killed.

Doesn't the girl who does the main singing sound rather like either Pinky or Perky? - I keep thinking that they were by the same producers who also did Clive Dunn's Grandad, even though they were a decade apart. I know that St Winifred's producers were the same who did Brian and Michael's 1978 song - another candidate for the list.
