  • Christmas Adverts

One of the things I've always loved was Xmas TV adverts (especially now I live abroad and really miss the whole cold xmassy thing) from the big ones to the many toy adverts that suddenly appeared on our screens. So as that time of year is getting closer and it's probably only about a month till the shops put their decco's up, here's some links that brought back some great memories:

    Woolies 1981
    Woolies 1983
    Boots & Woolies 1983
    Currys late 80s
    Boots possible early 80s
Generic Toy Adverts around 1980/1 xmas time

Cheers Mulletino, really enjoyed watching those, great to see all those toys!

When you were little it really made it feel like Christmas was really close, when the adverts started, now they seem to be on months before, maybe I'm just getting old

No Hugs it's a fact ! When you were little Christmas was never in the shops before the start of December. Then it was just after Bonfire night. Soon came on the in run to Halloween and now September !! Rediculous if you ask me - Santa must seem to take forever to arrive to a four or five year old !!
        Joybee - DYR SUPERGRAN !!

Our Tesco already had advent calendars and selection boxes. There'll be cards and deccies soon lol.

Then as soon as Chrissy is over the Easter stuff suddenly appears. 3rd of January this year I saw Hot Cross Buns and Easter Eggs in the shops.

BTW cool ads Mulletino, really enjoyed watching them.

Runs and hides before the frowns and roll eyes come flooding in, but this one always makes me smile.

Aww you have to watch it with little ones around, and watch their little faces light up. Another Mum thing maybe.

Yep, good ol' Coca Cola. They know how to get the kids sucked in, with the catchy song and the bright colours, same thing with McDonalds.

I'm glad they've started the xmas stuff already, it means all the shops will be Xmassy when I pop back to England for 3 weeks in Oct/Nov.

I still love Christmas, even though most years I am ill where i've gotten myself too excited.

The Boots ads really stick with me from the early 80s. This was when Boots had a great audio/visual dept. These ads which lasted well over a minute really got you in the mood for Crimbo.
