    Poll for DYR members to settle a family arguement.................................. is the saying "Your a sight for sore eyes" a complimentary or sarcastic saying? I go with the former.

      "The Sight of you is good for sore Eyes."

        Yep ! I agree, that's the way we used to use it -By gum, you're a sight for sore eyes!! meant I haven't seen you for yonks, it's nice to see you !!

                Yes, it sounds like a compliment.

                However, if you wanna impress the ladies - 80's style - you gotta tell her she's "totally tubular".

                          It's quite old so maybe not used much these days. It was used on Tyneside, it's said quite often on Auf Weidersehen Pet mainly by Oz.
