  • Top Of The Pops

Just been talking about Top Of The Pop's, In the 70's The theme tune was Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin, In the 80's The Wizard by Paul Hardcastle, were there anymore?

I loved watching Top Of The Pops as a kid, Thursday nights at I think 7pm, and of course the Christmas Specials. Why do they always spoil these programmes by updating them, why fix what's not broke!

He sings on Yellow Pearl, but TOTP only uses the instrumental version.
Also although everyone knows Whole Lotta Love was used for TOTP in the 70's, its not Zep's version they play. The TOTP version was by CCS

I hope not for Midge's sake
Midge Ure was Ultravox's second singer (John Foxx being the first)

                      Re: Top Of The Pops

There were a couple of others..Propellerheads did one, as did Vince Clarke, but I'd given up watching it by then,as most acts were consisting of anonymous bloke behind keyboard & dancer/singer (the"....featuring" years).
TOTP died in the early 90's when dance tunes were littering the Top Twenty

                        when TOTP finished

As it went off the air for the last time and Sir Fixit turned out studio lights it played out with 'Celebration' by Kool and the Gang.

I thought at the time it should have finished with 'Top of the Pops' by the Rezillos

                        Any other suggestions?
