Both were good, but I think Blue Peter had the edge !!

I'm old enough to remember both Pogles Wood (good site on them here - http://www.geocities.com/heartland/park/9634/ ) and Tales of the River Bank. Used to LOVE that one when Johnny Morris narrated it, but later it was sold to the U.S. and an American chap took over - could never get my head round that !! Blue Peter was a bit 'square' to many people (I liked both)

I liked the Magpie 'appeals' where they measured how much money they'd raised by following the red line marker on the wall as it weaved around the studio, up stairs etc etc

(beats the thermometer-type totalizer!)

as a near perfect girl guide back in the day,i have to say i arranged and was involved in many a bring and buy sale for blue peter,so on the strength of this alone,i remain loyal to blue peter!!!!

no.....but me and my gran made lots of awful pink crochet loo roll dollys (you know the ones,to make your loo rolls look pretty!!!) and i firmly remember bundling up several assorted bath cubes for the lucky dip!!!!

yes, sadly I'm old enough to have watched Tales from the riverbank...loved it. Johnny morris had the same type of sophorific..that modern day presenters like Alan titchmarsh, and Nigel Farrel have (island/village parish)...
