  • Blue Peter or Magpie??

Probably been on this forum before but who was your favourite presenter(s)
I come from the Purves Noakes and Singleton era so Noakes will always be king. Essential veiwing back then with all the animals , summer trips, the christmas charity collections and a million and one things you can make from a coat hanger and centre of a loo roll.

Can still hear the immortal words "down Shep" even now.
    The eyes have it!

That was the classic golden years of the show though..........remember some great stuff, and Go with Noakes too, him and Shep were like Batman and Robin the dynamic duo, was even a record too, i think?

          Blue Peter or Magpie??

Which did you prefer Blue Peter or Magpie?? If recall correctly they were both on different channels at the same time.

          Personally I preferred Blue Peter.

Bit to young to remember Magpie, So Blue Peter, but to be honest Blue Peter never really floated my boat, So probably watched whatever was on CITV at the same time

Both were good, but I think Blue Peter had the edge !!

I'm old enough to remember both Pogles Wood (good site on them here - http://www.geocities.com/heartland/park/9634/ ) and Tales of the River Bank. Used to LOVE that one when Johnny Morris narrated it, but later it was sold to the U.S. and an American chap took over - could never get my head round that !! ( Original clip here - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=B-CtMWsMGGo )

                    and Hectors House - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=I_tVxvnEJko

Don't know if anyone remembers but I am sure Mick Robertson from Magpie bought out a single "Then i change hands" back in the seventies?? not entorely convinced though.

                            LOL found this !!
POST-MAGPIE BUBBLE-PERMED Leo Sayeralike MICK ROBERTSON found himself fronting this Friday evening activity magazine, which professed to have "something for everyone" - from active kids (absailing, BMXing, adventure holidays etc.) to stay-at-homes (drawing in the margins of a telephone directory.) Suffered from same flaw as WHY DON'T YOU: presentation encouraged you to switch over, bored, rather than stick around and learn something interesting. Around this time Micky recorded a solo album of self-penned songs, notably "Then I Change Hands", a song about m*sturb****n
