I wore Winklepickers in the early eighties. They were a shoe fashioned from the design of the original Winklepicker shoe in the 50's. Winklepickers had a spike heel or thin stiletto and VERY sharp pointed toes.Some designers still make them but with a more exaggerated longer toe than I remember.The ones I wore had more of a kitten heel-though spiked.I wore my Winklepickers to all the gigs in London (The Marquee, Electric Ballroom etc) until they had holes in the soles and put cardboard inside to lengthen their life.I wasn't so rich back then!
