    Re: Mastermind

I had the original version with the beardy guy on the cover and the exotic looking lady behind him. Great game. I did see a re-release of it recently (last 5 years anyway) that, I think, had extra colours to make it harder.

    Cheers,
    Finnthedude.

I always found the word version harder, because it had to make sense! It was like Soduko in a sense: once you could master it, it could become rather tedious.
I suppose the only way I can think of making it slightly interesting would be to play say 10 games (alternating between code-maker and breaker), and play for a quid an attempt, and at the end win or lose a few quid.

                    Re: mastermind

It always created arguments when someone brought it in for toy day at school (last day at school before christmas) as some played that reply pegs had to be in order and some didn't, it was carnage...CARNAGE I tell you.

Is this the same game as the tv show with magnus magnusson it sounds nothing like it.

According to the TV Cream Book Of Toys he was a hairdresser called Bill Woodward who did some modelling on the side.

As far as I know he's still around & was interviewed for a programme on toys a few years ago.

Not deliberately so. The board game came out in 1970, and the TV show started in 1972. Maybe some people bought the game thinking there was a connection, but it wasn't planned that way.
