There was this American comedy/drama series on channel4 good few years ago.
It always showed you at the start a kid being plonked in front of telly and it showed him getting older while watching the box during opening credits.
The story was he was now in his thirties and trying to get a relationship, when things went wrong he kept flashing back to telly scenes from his past.
I think it must have been a USA cable prog cos there was a fair bit of sex and nudity / swearing
