  • The Beautiful South

Fronted by ex-Housemartins vocalist Paul Heaton, The Beautiful South enjoyed an impressive run of eighteen top 40 chart singles between 1989 and 1999, including 'Song For Whoever' (their first hit), 'Perfect 10', 'Rotterdam', 'You Keep It All In' and 'A Little Time', which was their only No.1.Though Heaton provided the majority of lead vocal performances, female lead vocals were often featured on their songs - by Briana Corrigan, who was later replaced by Jacqui Abbot. The band has a notable record of album sales, including two chart-toppers: 'Blue Is The Colour' (featuring an X-rated version of their hit 'Don't Marry Her'), and 'Quench'.
