      Re: Dempsey and Makepeace

This was one of my favourites (may have had something to do with the lovely Glynis Barber). The two of them had great on screen chemistry as well. Shame they didn't make more.May get around to buying the dvd one day.

            dempsey and makepeace.

dempsey and makepeace starred michael brandon as dempsey, glynis barber as makepeace.
it also starred ray smith as spikings who was there chief.
there where 30 episodes in total.
            most lasted 50 minutes.
            it started in 1985.

it was a real gritty show and pretty rough as anyone who watched it will know.
            ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
dempsey was originally new york cop.
            --------------------------------------------------------------------------
a few interesting facts i found out.
Dempsey drove a 1984 Mercedes SL white in series one and two and silver in series 3. and Makepeace a Ford Escort 1.6i Cabriolet silver in series one and two and Diamond white in series 3
            -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
the two of them had a great on screen chemistry.

            here is a clip.
            a great theme tune.

Makepeace (Glynis Barber) is in Eastenders playing Roxy and Ronnie's mother, she is still very attractive.

That's a lovely picture. Glynis is wearing terribly well.

Spikings had a Ford Granada Mk2. I never saw this at the time, but I recently bought series 1 on DVD (secondhand), and it's a great replacement for the by-then defunct series 'The Professionals', which I think was the idea at the time.

yes she still seems so natural looking.
Michael living in new york has aged him a bit i feel all that smog.

                            think they are still married.

                              Re: Dempsey and Makepeace

Bearing in mind that Brandon is in his mid-60's now he doesn't look too bad! You might have spotted him in the new Captain America movie as the Senator. TBH I think he's worn rather better than the show has - I caught a couple of episodes on one of the cable channels recently and it looks very dated now.

When this series was first broadcast - when I was 13 or 14 - we had a young, freshly qualified english and drama teacher at school, who was very much like Glynis Barber... posh, blonde and gorgeous. She had a similar haircut and always wore brightly coloured fashionable clothes that showed off her slim, leggy figure. She was great fun and needless to say I had a huge crush on her...
