  • Gruey!

Does anyone remember Gruey? I know he was Robbie Coltraine's son in Cracker, and I've seen him a few other things too - like Hollyoaks and As if, I think? - But he will always be Gruey to me.
Anyone else know what I mean?

    Re: Gruey!

1988 BBC children's comedy apparently Flash...and a second series 'Gruey Twoey'...nothing on youtube.

I was up at Uni in 1988 so had left kids tv behind...hence I don't remember this at all..sorry!

But as soon as I googled the actor who played him (Kieran O'Brien) I've certainly seen him in a few things ('Burn It' tv series , Band of Brothers...oh & he was in the re-make of Survivors recently..played a deranged guy)

      Cheers, Dave.
I didn't know Gruey had been so naughty!
But I'd cast him if I was a director.
I always like to keep an eye out for good actors.
I followed Ray Winstone from "Macbeth on the Estate", to Nil By Mouth, to...well...you know the rest.

              Re: Gruey!

I really liked it, though I didn't get to see much of Gruey Twoey because I was at secondary school by then & didn't finish until later.

                Re: Gruey!

Gruey was an excellent programme. One that you knew as soon as you watched it you thought "hi, hi this is going to be an azing show" I am unsuyre did it only have one Series or may-be 2 (can anyone confirm either way please)? I thought too the bloke who played Gruey's Dad was so brilliant in his role as was his Mum too, who was the total opposite of the Dad. Gruey's Mum so remindes me of the Mum on Jihnny Briggs - I often wonder if it was the same actress sometimes!

                        Re: Gruey!

It would be excellent if Gruey was brought on DVD, though i'm unsure if it has or not. If it has not I really hope it will be at some point. Gruey was Childrens TV in it's heyday I feel/think. Thinking back about when I watched Gruey, it sure brings the 1980s/1990s memories back like they were only yesterday.

It was up there with the qwaulity 80s Kids Programes I think - like Johnny Briggs/Byker Grove and ITV's childrens Watd

Ironicaly just after the final Series of Gruey - Gruey's Dad turned up as the Outward Bound Instructor in Grange Hill when they went to Dartmoor in 91, two years after he was the St Joes Caretaker in 1989 (Series 12) after Clark and Matthew spent forever trying to retreave Clark's stolen bike!
