    Re: Who are they?

Am slowly working my way through this list
List of performers on Top of the Pops - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Getting the artistes names and then going into Google images so eventually I hope to find them -- work in progress!

      It's a bit of a fool's mission. That's where I started looking ages ago...

Oh well - if you've already tried that then I'll have to do a rethink

Could it be Renaissance? They had a hit with Northen Lights in 1978.

No, I don't think it's Renaissance. They only had one female singer. (Annie Haslam). I'm a huge fan of that band and am pretty sure the photo isn't them.

I think its Guys n Dolls.
Look at this record cover - think it confirms it

The group (Guys n Dolls) went through many changes including having 3 girls at one time but I think the 4some of 2 guys and 2 dolls was the nucleus of the group

                  Re: Who are they?

The only trouble with this is that in the original picture, there's a guy on keyboards, another on drums, etc. I remember Guys & Dolls quite well and I'm sure none of them played instruments as part of the act. (perhaps the Guys sometimes had guitars?) I supose those musicians in the picture could be just additions for a performance, but they look like part of the group to me.

Sorry. Marine Boy's being a wet blanket.

                    Re: Who are they?

The two guys at the back of the original pic (Drums and guitar) are just back-up musicians to the four in matching outfits.

I obviously remember Guys and Dolls quite well as it led me to the answer and as a cabaret band the two male members did play keyboards and bass.

                                Re: Who are they?

The original Guys & Dolls line up was a six piece, so looks good, but that would have included David Van Day & Thereze Bazar.
Can't make them out in the small picture.

                                so still not convinced...yet
