  • Itsy and Bitsy

    Itsy and Bitsy were both spiders who featured in a childrens' TV programme in the 80s called Paperplay, produced by Thames television. Itsy was red and had a deep, gruff voice, while Bitsy was yellow with a much gentler voice. There were toy versions made of Itsy and Bitsy that were actually very cute and fluffy - nothing like as scary as spiders in real life!

      Susan Stranks operated Itsy & Bitsy. I think this was after she became famous for Magpie.

      As for Magpie Susan was many a lads crush; even more so than Blue Peter's Valerie Singleton

      Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.
