      Top Deck

Do they still make this drink today? It came in a can and was basically lemonade shandy. I can remember a lot of my 13 year old friends drank it convinced that if you drank two cans you would get seriously drunk! I think it was about 1% alcohol! I couldn't stand the taste of it and vowed that I would never touch beer......that soon went out the window!

here is something i found out about top deck.

Top Deck was a low alcohol shandy drink available in a variety of flavours and marketed to children in the United Kingdom during the 1960s and 1970s. It was a brand of the Beecham Group until 1986 when it was sold along with the more popular brand Tango, along with the UK franchises for Pepsi and 7-Up, to Britvic.
It is believed that Top Deck ceased to exist in the mid 1990s. The 1990s rock band Nirvana were reported to have had Top Deck on their rider for an appearance on The Word.

I know it's straying from top deck slightly but of course not forgetting Shandy Bass and does anybody else remember Panda Pops Shandy tagged with the line "made with real Badger Beer"!

I would never connect Nivana & Top Deck at all!

I noticed Panda Pops on sale a few weeks ago for the first time in years. Until the late 1990s they seemed to make up most of the stock in those clear plastic flap fronted fridges in Superdrug.

                          Re: Top Deck Drinks

I would proberbly suggest that it was dropped because if i remember right it was the old style 2% alcohol which in todays society is not so tollerated as a childrens drink.Shandy in general in cans today is more in the order 0.05% (percentages off the top of my head)But the principle is the same. Not that shops stopped putting sweets next to shop checkouts. They are bad for childrens health and teeth.

Here's a later can dating from the late 1980s-early 90s judging by the ring pull.
