  • The Vicar Of Dibley

When Dawn French wasn't hamming up it alongside comedy partner Jennifer Saunders in their sketch show, she was busy keeping us all amused for over a decade as Geraldine Granger - a feisty chick in a dog collar with a passion for chocolate, Johnny Depp, and er, God. Produced by Richard Curtis (he of Four Weddings and a Funeral, and Bernard And The Genie) Geraldine was the shephard tending over the slightly bonkers flock in the parish of St. Barnabas, Dibley, which included Jim "no no no no no yes" Trott, snore-a-minute minute taker Frank Pickle, sweet but slightly dim best mate Alice Tinker (who later married Parish councillor David Horton's son Hugo in a wedding that involved Teletubby bridesmaids) and Letitia Cropley (much loved actress Liz Smith), she of the infamous taramasalata and parsnip brownies. But whether Alice was actually giving birth while playing Mary in the village nativity play, or Jim was doing the Full Monty at the talent show, there was never a dull moment to be had in Dibley, right up until the show's final episode in 2006 when, after being the bridesmaid all these years, Geraldine finally became the bride herself with dashing accountant hubby Harry (Richard Armitage of Robin Hood fame). Bless you all for watching...
