    Watch With Mother - Preschool? What can You remember

    My earliest memories of TV were watching my favourite programmes at lunchtime on the BBC. I'd love people to list the pre-school progs that they can genuinely remember and put a few memories if they can. After all, that is the point of this board and also I hope a jog a view memories and vice-versa

    The Woodentops (liked it - mainly for the biggest spotty dog you ever saw)

    Andy Pandy (Remember it used to alternate between indoors and outdoors - Teddy was my preschool hero but was concerned about them being shut away in a basket)

    Bill and Ben (Strangely for a preschooler - I found it silly)

    Joe (No puppets, no animation just a rostrum camera and pictures. I liked Joe. He lived in a Transport Cafe and it seemed to be aimed at little boys. He also had a guitar playing friend who was a bit of a hippy)

    Camberwick Green (My favourite of all time - Vehicles, Farm Machinery, Soldiers, A Windmill. For a 4 year old, TV didn't come any better)

    Picture Book (I liked action - not stories, although, Joe contridicts this)

    Tales of the Riverbank (I did not like at all - I can't explain why. The idea of a Hamster in a speed boat is pretty cool)

    Trumpton (Started in 1967 so I was at school by then :cry: Only seen repeats or when it was shown in the holidays)
    I go back to the original Jethro Tull - Yes! The seed drill inventor!

    As a pre-schooler, my two clearest memories would be 'Twizzle' (which had me running behind the sofa when the boy-doll 'cricked' his arms and legs out) and 'Huff Puff Junction'. Actually, I think both of these may have been ITV, and not BBC's Watch With Mother at all.





    I loved Camerwick Green. Mrs Honeyman's gossiping while someone else holds her baby, really sticks in my mind.

      my preschool programmes were early 80s.

      Rainbow (i had little crush on freddy )

      Up above the streets and houses,
      Rainbow climbing high.
      Everyone can see it climbling

      button moon

      Were off to button moon,
      We followed Mr. Spoon - Button Moon, Button Moon

      play school

      Here's a house. Here's a door. Windows: 1,2,3,4.
      Ready to knock. Turn the lock. It's Play School!

      sesame street - oscar the grouch and the count were my favs.

      Sunny day - Sweepin’ the clouds away,
      On my way to where the air is sweet.
      Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street.

      Come and play, everything’s A-OK
      Friendly neighbors there that’s where we meet
      Can you tell me how to get

      mooncat - cant remember much about this one only that it was a green cat!

      I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

        oh aye i forgot about 2. I havent got photos im afraid.

        Lets pretend - i seem to remember a red catapillar???

        Picture box - i kinda remember a glass box???
        I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

                no i dont know a rude version of button moon. I know one of fraggle rock but not button moon. Please corrupt me!

                    Just had a look at them....oh dear. Lets pretend is nothing like i thought i was! The memory must be playing tricks! The song was the same but i thought it had a catipillar???

                            I don't remember anything from pre-school, I was under 4 years old!

                            However, if you mean pre-school programmes that I watched when I was at school then I recall the following:-

                            Camberwick Green, Trumpton, Chigley.

                            Pogul's Wood

                            Teddy Edward

                            Lamb Chop

                            Mr Ben

                            Pipkins

                            Fingerbobs (Fingermouse)

                            Play School, Play Away

                            Crystal Tips & Alastair

                            I remember many more since then, but these are the earliest. I'm not really old enough to remember Wooden Tops or Muffin the Mule, etc. "Not really old enough" - heck, that makes me feel really good!

                              I couldn't find it on youtube but there was definitely a caterpillar, red and yellow, made out of ball shapes maybe? on metal sticks you weren't supposed to see, on a black background.
