    Re: Wrong lyrics

My sis used to sing 'Hide the guillotine, hide, hide' in the Kids from fame song. Think it should have been 'high fidelity, high, high'

In Bohemian Rhapsody where they sing "Spare him his life from these monstrosities", I used to think they were saying "Spare him his life from these warm sausages"!

Me too Fifi, except I thought it was PRAWN SAUSAGES!

A friend once asked me what "mancheerans" are , as in -

        "Golden Brown, texture like sun
Lays me down, with my mancheerans"

She was mortified when I told her it was "with my mind she runs"

As a kid I thought the Beatles were swearing when they sang "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da"

          Re: Wrong lyrics

I remember the single "I.O.U." by Freeez. When I was in the 1st year at secondary school, I tended to sing the chorus as follows:

          Freeez, Freeez, Freeez, Freeez, I O U, U,
          I sometimes fly.
          Freeez, Freeez, Freeez, Freeez, I O U, U,
          I sometimes fly.

Someone in my year kept on to me that those words were incorrect, and pointed out to me Freeez is the name of the group.

I used to think it was "Dress you up in nylon".

                Only i used to sing:

"Oh, how you brought me down - down down. hot dinner was all around, "

                When it should of been:

"Oh, how you brought me down - down down. All I did was runnin' around - around.
I loved this song too, and I thought the lyrics were "our dinner was thrown around". Thought they must have been referring to lover's tiffs at meal times!

Another classic of mine was Jingle Bells ..."oh what fun it is to ride" became "oh what fun to kiss your eyes"

                    Re: Wrong lyrics

Regarding the Sister Sledge song "Frankie", I wrote a complete parody of the whole thing to sing about my gripes about another boy in my year. In hindsight that was an unkind thing to do really.

Did anyone else parodise a pop song to annoy another person in their year/class whilst at school?

I'm surprised no-one's yet mentioned - 'well, go and get stuffed!' - actually 'When The Going Gets Tough' by Billy Ocean.
"We're the Sweeney son, and we haven't had any dinner!"

My friend used to sing Genocide by Off Spring and say:
                        Donkey Kong Everyday...
                        When the proper lyrics is:
Dog eat Dog everyday... on our fellow man we prey.

Don't laugh but remember Todd Rudgren's "I Don't Wanna Work I Wanna Bang on the drum all day"?

I thought it was "I don't Wanna Work I Want to Bang on each other all day"!

He argued with me for ages until I turned around and said " who the F"@ is Eddy ?? "

The song was by the Shamen " Move any Mountain "
work mate was singing " I can move, move, move Eddy's Mountain "
