  • John Bull Printing Sets

Anyone remember John Bull printing sets. They were little squares of rubber with numbers and letters on them that pressed into a holder block. you had to remember to write the words backwards and make sure the letters/numbers were the right way up. The ink pad was rectangular & red in colour, can't remember if the ink pad was black or blue but my brother and I spent hours playing with this set. Haven't seen one in years.

Yep, I had one was a kid. The type never quite lined up correctly (well, on my set). Mine was in a big metal tin, with all the letters, numbers, etc on red rubber cubes which you normally lost within a few weeks..

Wowhee! Where do you find all these pics. Don't know how old the set is in this pic but the red tin and the black rubber numbers and letters are just as I remember them I can't say that I really remember the rubber stamp pictures, maybe I had a smaller set that didn't have these in. Mine was circa 1967/69 I'd guess.
