    Re: Greatest football player

Seemed a nice guy, fond of a pint but all the more admirable for having achieved what he did.

Especially as he seem to pick up injuries almost as often as Evel Knievel.

Bryan Robson was one of the reasons my brother started supporting Manchester Utd in the mid 1980s.

for me the best player ever is garrincha.
a lot of people have not heard of him.
        he is brazilian.

in brazil its a 50/50 split between garrincha and pele.

brazil never lost whenthese two played together.

other greats are the (galloping major) ferenc puskas, alfredo de stefano, roberto baggio, maradona, best ,cruyff.etc etc.

garrincha had a very unusual problem with his leg which gave him a unique ability.

The late, great Davie Cooper (sadly taken from us at just 39):

As a child in the 70's (and Utd supporter) for me it has to be Steve Coppell brilliant winger who really should have played longer (no thanks to a dodgy tackle playing for England), on the blue side of manchester I used to enjoy watching Peter Barnes, on his day another good winger, in later years has to be Eric Cantona.

It wasn't a kung fu kick the palace supporter tried to head-but his boot when he slipped on the wet grass, honest officer
