HELP! Horror Hand Money Box

Hey all,

This one's been bugging me, on and off, for a few years now.

Back in the mid-late 70's, I had a Horror themed money box:

It was a large, black cube, with a hinged lid, and a coin 'rest' on the top (it was a very glossy, black plastic).

You'd place your coin in the 'rest', and the lid would veeerrryy slooooowly open, and a bony, green plastic hand would - equally slowly - edge towards the coin....

....As soon as the coin slotted between the fingers, the hand would SHOOT back inside the box, taking the coin with it, and the lid would SLAM shut (this frequently caused observers to jump!).

The thing was unbranded, and I'd *love* to see any pictures, or hear if anybody else had one (I've never seen anything similar since then).

Really hope somebody can help out

Thank you *so* much for that!!!!!!

Bizarrely, in my increasing years, my memory is telling me that the hand on mine was different - larger, and oriented 90 degrees (so that the knuckles were facing upwards, rather than sideways).

That said, this is close enough for me - off to eBay I go!!! :-D

That one's much closer (though the hend was definitely green, with long, boney fingers).

Where would I look for one like this??

Hi there,

I had one of these when I was a kid, but it broke, then just went into a closet. When I was old enough to realize that I could get it fix...my mom never thew anything out...I found out that my mom HAD thrown it out. I then saw one in a shop, about 15 years ago, but when the shopkeeper showed me that it worked, it had a large blue man's hand (obviously designed for English coins), instead of a small, green woman's hand (designed for Amerian coins) which was what I was looking for. So I did not get it. A week later, having decided that I had to have it....it was gone. I am still looking, but your photo looks just like I remember, and is the only photo that I have ever found of it. Maybe I should just put the photo on my wall, and pretend I have on! Would you be willing to sell yours?

I used to have one it was a large rectangular tin with green markings a green arm and was windup. much bigger than the images shown.

If you are still looking for horror hand money box I have one. English version, complete with green bony hand, takes "old money" (I had it in 1964 for my 7th birthday!!)still in its original box, very dusty 'cos it has sat in the loft of my various houses since 1964 and even made it to the States when we lived there for two years!! If you would like it, its yours. I am moving abroad and space is limited so to know it has found a good home will do for me!

I used to have one of those .But slightly different design printed i think.But same green hand.mine was one from the 70s.
