    Re: school milk

Milk was great at school. Our teacher would let us have a 2nd one if there was any spare and I was always the front of the queue for 2nds.

I was always nearly last to finish mine - I had less playtime as a result!!

            Re: school milk

I loved School milk. Can't understand why because it was the only time I drank milk as I hated it at home. The bottles were always warm and we used to see who could finish their milk first. If there was any left over, it would be offered to anyone that wanted another.

              Re: school milk

did it taste different to the milk you git at home sandie.
im sure it must have been the case.
perhaps it was more fresh the milk you got in school.

i remember getting bottled milk so clearly.
              i just loved it.
any left over i had to have it.

we got our milk in normal plain clear small glass bottles.
              we got it cold.

I don't really know why I liked school milk, but wouldn't take it at home. I was probably one of those really fussy kids who liked things certain ways.

dont like the sound of that.

did the other kids feel the same as you about being given it warmed up.

Interesting factoid: it was the Labour government of 1968 that started withdrawing milk from schools. Thatcher continued the process when she became education secretary in 1971. It didn't completely disappear until 1980.

I vaguely remember the little bottles and the straws but not much else.

I have such fond memories of playtime with 'room temperature' milk in dinky glass bottles, paper straws that went soggy on contact and my beloved potato puffs. Lush!!

                            memory fades mate.

i know that everyone in my class though primary school just loved it.
it was great seeing the milk coming.
it must have cost a fortune for the school to get it for very pupil.
or did they get it free.

                                can you describe the smell.
do not remember the term milk monitor.

was there not silver and green tops on the bottles.
