  • Sinister painting and voice(s)

I wonder if anyone could help me with this. I recall being shown a TV series at school in which a sinister painting was the main feature. I think the painting was of a hellish landscape and whenever people looked at it they heard strange, anguished voices. There might have been a dragon or a snake in the painting. I don't think it was Maelstrom because this would have been earlier, about 1982.

Not much to go on I'm afraid but this has bugged me for years so any suggestions gratefully received

Sounds like Children of the Stones. I got it on DVD from Amazon last year and it IS just as creepy as I remembered!

I'd have to agree with Cartimand, Children of the Stones.

Creeped me out as a kid, especially the haunting theme music!
I forget the details (will have to dig out the DVD and rewatch it), but there's a painting of neolithic / druid types dancing around the stone circle which includes a giant serpent.
