Re: Kids TV shows you hated

There was a lot of unmemorable (and now largely forgotten) tat on CBBC and CITV during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

        Noseybonk from Jigsaw?

He usually only appeared in one short sketch per episode.

Grange Hill. I couldn't see the logic behind it where kids would go to school all day then come home to watch a programme about school.

Byker Grove. Never got into it. Would it be more popular if it was southern?

In the Night Garden. I was too old for it when it came out but it's bizarre and I just don't like it.

Jackanory was before my time but after it was merged into CBBC in the mid 1980s had it become a buzzword for you will find an exciting cartoon over on CITV?

I was never a great fan of Saturday morning kids TV.

I see what you mean. It reminds me of having my first mock examinations all day at school, and I went home I saw the TV and they had repeated the first Mr Bean episode - the one with Bean trying to cheat in an examination. I didn't want to be reminded of exams once I was home, and that was on!

I bet that kids even felt like that when Please Sir! or other school based programmes were on.

I preferred to watch BBC / ITV schools programmes at home after school over Grange Hill. They were about things other than school.

I liked Scooby Do, but agree about his hell-puppy nephew Scrappy Do.

I don't know about Thomas the Tank - we wouldn't have had the late 1980s Bobby Davro parody of that if it hadn't have been on TV. And it kept Ringo Starr (as well as the Ringo Starr sound-alike Michael Angelis) in the spotlight after the Beatles and his solo career.

Introducing that character, Scrappy Doo, totally wrecked that cartoon.

She was in Emu's All-Live Pink Windmill Show and other associated Emu programmes plus her own show, Grotbags. She was played by Carol Lee Scott, and, yes, she passed away a few months ago.

I can imagine a lot of kids hating Emu's World and the Pink Windmill Show because of the resentment of seeing kids of their own age group performing and dancing on TV.
