TV Series with character called 'Century'

Anyone help me remember this one?

I can only remember it was some sort of creepy show for kids which featured a group of women with some sort of magic/mental power who somehow combined their abilities and inadvertently created a masked creature called Century.

It was probably BBC - maybe late 80s/early 90s - I'm guessing there.

Not much to go on - anyone know it?
