  • Ramsbottom the Snake

A secondary character on the Sooty Show, in the black and White Harry Corbett days.Ramsbottom was a snake who spoke in a rich Yorkshire dialect. He had the habit of telling rather convoluted stories and ditties. Best thing about the show - I still remember him after 50 years!!

Crikey I'd forgotten about him! I remember his voice really well. He seemed such a contrast to the others in the show. I think it was one of those things that was appreciated more by the adults watching than the kids.

The one in the snippet is a poor imitation of the original, and "really gradely" is poor. Should be "reet gradely".
