      something something
touch the ground (u touch the ground)
then some thing something something else (lol)
something something do the splits (u attempt to do the splits)[/QUOTE]

Not last night but the night before
24 robbers came knocking at the door
so I went out (said as long for the person to jump out of the skipping rope, run around and jump back in!)
      to let them in
and this is how they told me to beging
      spanish lady turn right round
      spanish lady touched the ground
      spanish lady do high kicks
      spanish lady do the spilts!

The skipper did the actions such as turning around and touching the ground etc.

Wasn't there another one with the song

Oliver Cromwell lost hie shoe at the battle of Waterloo

The ones at the end shouted Oliver as the first person jumped in, then Cromwell as the second jumped in, and so on until everyone was in and then the rope was turned really fast whilst it was shouted out again and then counting the skips.

I know I am a sad individual for remembering the words!
Can anyone else recall any others that were about celebs etc?

That was actually a part of a hit song!

I know I've been chuckling at the different versions on here. Who knew there were so many variations? I certainly never heard any other versions than 'mine' back in the day. I wonder what the original ditty actually was.

With reference to the 'firewood' song, we used to sing:
                        (name) is no good,
                        Chop him up for firewood,
                        If he squeals,
Pull his tail, Send him off to Stafford jail.

I think the turn around one is 'Teddy bear teddy bear turn around (you turn around). Teddy bear teddy bear touch the ground (you touch the ground). Teddy bear teddy bear climb the stairs (pretend to climb). Teddy bear teddy bear say your prayers (hold your hands up in the praying position). Teddy bear teddy bear turn out the light (pretend to flick a switch). Teddy bear teddy bear say good night (say good night).

This was done while skipping hand there may be more verses but I'm not sure

                            Re: Playground /school Songs!

These playground songs/rhymes are interesting. They were never written down or taught, just passed on by kids via word of mouth in the playground. When you heard someone saying one of them, if you liked it, it kind of stuck.
Here's one I remember from the late 60s early 70s. Later found out it was sung by soldiers in the First World War when marching to keep spirits up. So I guess it was passed down through the decades via word of mouth in the playground.

There was an old lady of 92 parlez vous.

Did a fart and missed the loo,
                            Inky vinky parlez vous.

The fart went rolling down the street parlez vous.

The fart went rolling down the street,
Knocked a copper right off his feet,
                            Inky vinky parlez vous.

The copper got out his rusty pistol parlez vous.

Shot the fart from here to Bristol,
                            Inky vinky parlez vous.

Bristol Rovers playing at home parlez vous.

                            Bristol Rovers playing at home,
Kicked the fart from here to Rome,
                            Inky vinky parlez vous.

Julius Caeser sat drinking gin parlez vous.
Julius Caeser sat drinking gin parlez vous.
                            Julius ceaser sat drinking gin,
Opened his mouth and the fart flew in,
                            Inky vinky parlez vous.

The fart went rolling down his spine parlez vous.
The fart went rolling down his spine parlez vous.
The fart went rolling down his spine,
Knocked his bollocks right out of line,
                            Inky vinky parlez vous...

Then there was also the one that went:

Chinese, Japanese, dirty knees... what are these?
There was a certain mime that when with it. When you said Chinese you made slit eyes with your fingers pulling up, Japanese you pulled them the corners of your eyes down, then you touched your knees and then your chest with both hands.

I think nowadays this would be considered too non-pc and banned.

The one I remember from primary school was:

                              In 1976
The Queen pulled down her knicks
                              She licked her bum
                              And said 'Yum yum,
                              It's better than Weetabix!'
