  • Edible Paper

Edible paper was great as a child although it had no flavor and very little texture. It is most commonly used these days as a cake decoration to create edible images but back in the 70's & 80's it was available at the local shop along with all the penny mix-up sweets. Sometimes it was plain block colours & others would come printed in a mock pound note.

It had a kind of stale taste. Not very nice I thought. What was it made of anyway? Don't say paper!

Wasn't it used around chocolate "cigarettes" ? I seem to remember having arguments with friends about whether the paper was in fact edible! I ate it anyway!

it did not taste that sweet though.

i remember it had a shiny smooth surface.
i had it every day lots of it.
