  • Anyone got a NEW Raleigh Chopper?

Has anyone out there got a new Raleigh Chopper or had a go on one? WHat are they like? Are they anything like as good as the original?

Never had one I used to make my bikes out of old bits, only one brake, whack on some Cow Horn handlebars etc.. Great for scrambling and wheelies

I turned my handlebars over on my racer once. Does that count?

My grandad made me a custom-made chopper bike from old parts! I loved it!!

As for the new chopper my hubby doesn't rate it!

They're too expensive for what they are really as well....wish I'd have kept mine and sold it on Ebay!!!

Is that the one with the massive rear wheel that they sell in Toys R Us?

Yep..they'd be the Raleigh Chopper bikes!

Just depressed myself with how much money I could have even for my knackered old chopper - wondering if my dad might have it tucked away in the shed somewhere.....hmmmm.....

Where were they originally above the first P in chopper?

                      Re: My New Raleigh Chopper!

yes, a three gear shift stick, which I always thought was one of the coolest things about a Chopper. Seems silly to have remade them without it:cry:
                      Saddle is different too

                          Re: My New Raleigh Chopper!

Yeah, mine is a modern repro. So there have been a few changes to the original styling....like Daz said the ger shifts no longer on the cross beam bar, I read on some official Raleigh fans sight that the changes were made due to safety concerns i.e. coming off the bike and hurting your ahem crown jewels!

I would have thought it was so you didn't have to take a hand off the steering to change gear..bloody nanny state

or to stop you looking down rather than ahead!
