Does anyone remember a cartoon strip called Chipper which was the name of a dog and had some youngsters who owned it? The cartoon strip ran in the Nottingham Evening Post from around 1964 to 1990, spanning around 7,000 issues, and I almost certain that it was syndicated to other local newspapers as well. They had Garfield for 30 years, so anything could be possible.
The local newspaper for Eastbourne still had the strip when I got a copy while staying down there in 2014 - they even had this children's club attached to the character as well. It made me wonder whether it came from a Beano-type comic, or whether it just appeared in local newspapers.
I am sure that the same cartoon strips were appearing in newspapers all over the place.
