Shoot was a weekly magazine covering all aspects of "division 1" clubs. It had pull out posters, interviews and a free cardboard league board which you altered week by week depending on results.
Unbelievably tedious work, those league ladders - anyone who stuck by them probably became senior Civil Servants ! And I imagine the tabs were fairly frayed by May.
What comic was It's a Dog's Life from ? And when ? i'm trying to guess the age of that pic.
I remember buying Shoot most weeks for many years. Had hundreds of 'em until wife made me chuck 'em out when we moved house. Managed to hold on to a few though. This one is from around the time I first started collecting them.
Here is the final league tables from that issue. LOL prize money for winning the league was 50 grand. Wouldn't go very far these days, many players earn that in a week.
Just reminded me of how long it's been since Everton were at the top, nice to see a revival there.
Wives wanting stuff thrown out, steve ? They do that, believe me - but none of the six different dinner sets that'll never be used get touched tho...!
I used to get Shoot every week, and every Sunday morning during the football season I'd meticulously update those league ladders using the info in the Sunday paper. Never ocurred to me just to save the tables from the paper instead.
I remember getting the first issue of a footy mag in mid - late 70's, the free gift was a 3d badge shaped like one side of a football, with a clear panel in the centre under which you put your favourite player / club badge (from the mag) - was that Shoot??
