Name of a book, help wanted please

Can anyone help with the name of a book, very much like Tin Tin in it's layout, it was also cartoon (ish) and was a sort of adventure. In part of the book they travelled to the Moon (I think), and the aliens spoke to the characters in a code, which you had to decipher from the key in the book. I borrowed it from School, in about 1981, and that is about all I can remember!! any help would be fantastic
