  • Beach and theme park with nursery rhyme characters Cornwall 1976

I have strong memories and photos of a holiday to Cornwall in 1976, Spring before the big heatwave. But I don't remember the name of the beach we visited or the theme park.
I'll try attaching photos. the park is probably the easiest to describe, it had characters and buildings from nursery rhymes in it such as Little Bo Peep and her lost sheep, Jack & Jill and a well, the crooked house etc. Someone must remember this place.

The beach I remember was very sandy, and had a rock or concrete retaining wall at the back. One beach deckchair has "NUDC" on it which I believe was Newquay Urban District Council, long since gone. But it gives a clue that it could be in the Newquay area. Someone might recognise the buildings. I've scoured Google Earth but can't find anything like this in the area, of course the intervening 49 years might have changed things. There is a possibility the beach photo with the mound of sand might be horizontally flipped.

hopefully I have successfully added photos. I've edited my 3 year old self out of them hence the weird distortion in the middle of the pictures.

You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 5 photos.

The south west is a great place for theme parks to be situated - I have visited Land's End three times and have had my picture taken next to the famous sign with "NOTTINGHAM 346" on one occasion, and "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" on another..

It was great staying in a Penzance hotel and watching the regional ITV ad breaks - local ads for theme parks and the like.
I've everything I need to keep me satisfied
There's nothing you can do to make me change my mind
    I'm having so much fun
    My lucky number's one
    Ah! Oh! Ah! Oh!
