  • Buttermilk Soap

Does this mean anything to anyone? At my school it was the only type of soap you ever saw in the bathrooms. It was a tiny white bar with 'BUTTERMILK' written on it. Was this stuff used everywhere?

    Re: Buttermilk Soap

This was also the famous 'blind soap' that was peddled door to door

I think there was either a factory for blind workers or it was a charity organisation

Bloke up the road from me when I was a kid used to sell it every few months- he had a very snappy, growling guide dog that terrified us kids

I certainly do remember this soap and it seemed to be used in every Public place imaginable from schools to Public Toilets !

I used to love it - it smelt clean and was lovely lathery stuff *lol* I actually bought some a couple of years back from the market in small blocks just as we used to know it. If you look around, you may still be able to get it !

      Apparently you can ! http://www.dependable.co.uk/4,Hand%2...P%20WHITE.html

just under £10 for 144 bars - bargain!!
