Does anyone remember collecting regimental badges from petrol stations if so can you remember which petrol station it was, also there was a comic in the 70s that gave away war medals that you could stick in an album can you remember what the comic was thanks.

Thanks for that Shado66, seen Texaco ones advertised on eBay but it stated they were from the 60s so I wasn't sure they were the same ones I had, suppose they must have been re issued a few years later.

No definitely 70's period. I used to badger my dad to buy Texaco petrol just to get the badges. I guess that was the idea. I've got the full set but my album is a bit tatty. I keep it more for nostalgic reasons. My dad was in the Para's so I was particularly pleased when I got that one. Its a nice keepsake because a few of the regts. are no longer around or have been amalgamated like the Green Howards for example.

Thanks again, yep I would use pester power on my dad to go to there I remember it was well out of the way. almost everything from my childhood including the badges was lost or thrown out during a house move didn't seem important at the time.
