In the third in a series of special programmes from stately homes around the British Isles, Gloria and Alan visit Powis
Castle, Wales, once the fortress of a dynasty of Welsh princes. Its romantic setting prompted this 1744 quote: 'Powis's grand situation, its charming and magnificent prospects, its extensive woody parks of many hundred acres.... render it one of the first seats in the kingdom.' Join Gloria and Alan today as they discover all that's historical and horticultural at Powis Castle.

discovers Glastonbury - a town crammed with legends.
According to one, Joseph of Arimathea buried the chalice used at the Last Supper here. He drove his thorn staff into the ground and the thorn flowered, a sign that this was the place to build a church and to begin conversions to Christianity. Glastonbury is also said to be the burial place of King Arthur and his wife Guinevere.
Join John as he relives the legends and explores the famous place of pilgrimage during one of the town's busiest weeks of the year.
