Posthaste: if you've sent a card in to DLT asking to take part in his Breakfast Show, then watch out for the special Radio 1 envelope which may arrive through your door with the invitation to be on the Posthaste Line. Hundreds of cards are sent out with the week's special secret number and may give you the chance, even if you don't own a phone yourself, to chat to DLT and possibly win a super prize by correctly identifying artists or missing lyrics in songs. Each invitation is valid for a week. If you haven't sent in a card yet, write to DLT, Posthaste Line, BBC, London WIA 4WW.

Talkabout is a pop current affairs programme. Charlie Gillett, a frustrated rock 'n' roller, argues with a panel of under-20s (and an 'expert' or two) about some edgy issue of the day.

JOHN PEEL writes: ' There are two clear-cut approaches to rock appreciation. The first is the "wow! this is just like the last album, wow! " method: the second follows the who are these twerps and what are they doing? " line. Adherents to the first discipline would not care for The Ruts, those of the second have identified them as the hardest band to poke their heads out of the New Wave in quite a spell. Their first single, "In a Rut ". was recorded for the London community organisation People Unite and it Is a gem. The Ruts' second Radio 1 session. produced by Tony Wislon , should not be missed.'

Pub of the Day: It is a comforting thought that in this country, day-in, day-out, there are countless pubs working their pumps and bottles to the hone to ensure that the liquid content of their customers is maintained at a satisfying level; and it is therefore considered right and proper that the Paul Burnett Show (Which, after all, opens its doors at the same time as the majority of pubs) should pay tribute to these indispensable temples of tipple by each day awarding one of their number the ultimate accolade. a Pub of the Day scroll.
'Pub of the Day' awards are often reported in the local press, usually with enthusiasm. However, one landlord was reported as saying that he hoped the extra publicity would not bring extra crowds to his pub, thus disturbing his settled and select clientele.

Agnetha. Benny, Bjorn and Frieda present a wide spectrum of music from Bach to Led Zeppelin. With more than 100 million sales of their discs world-wide (they're still not sure how many they've actually sold), Abba are unquestionably one of Sweden's greatest exports.
Though Benny and Frieda were recently married, speculation about the group's very existence was rife when it was announced earlier this year that Bjorn and Agnetha were getting divorced. Notwithstanding personal problems, Abba as a group appear to be functioning more successfully than ever. Producer PAUL WILLIAMS

Dr Alan Maryon-Davis looks at Kidneys.
The average person requires at least two pints of water a day to keep his system functioning normally. The kidneys help to flush out unwanted substances from the body. By testing the water you pass a doctor can discover several important factors: the presence of an abnormal amount of sugar may be the result of diabetes. traces of blood may indicate kidney stones. too much protein may be a symptom of kidney failure.

                                Andy Peebles writes:
'Included in this weeks programme is a session by the Sheffield-based band, Def Leppard. Strangely, my producer and I first discovered them en route from Leeds to Manchester during our week in Yorkshire when we were crossing the Pennines to have dinner with the delightful Annie Nightingale. I personally was greatly impressed by what we heard on the tape even though it had been recorded some months previous. It was interesting to hear a rock band whose material managed to sound fresh, within the confines of heavy rock. They possess an impressive guitar sound which you can hear for yourself by listening to the programme this week.'
