For the next seven weeks MIKE READ will be hosting the evening rock show.
' Over this period I look forward to playing a lot of great music - the best of New Wave, classic rock tracks and some mind-stretching oldies including some American best-sellers from the 50s and 60s. There'll be' the special studio sessions, this week with John Miles , Cowboys International and the Pete Townshend-produced band Straight 8. All in all, an interesting cross-section of music - you've no excuse to miss it! '

ANDY PEEBLES on the Breakfast Show:
'Do any of our readers wish to purchase 24 alarm clocks?!! This programme represents ' the Grand Slam - in my broadcasting career as it now means that I have broadcast right around the 24-hour clock. Not only does the programme pose a great challenge but it also presents me with a chance to deal with the more popular side of the musical sphere. I'm hoping my seven weeks on the Breakfast Show will coincide with the arrival of summertime, but then I was always an optimist! One particular feature I am looking forward to is waking up my lucky colleagues who are out and about with the Radio 1 Roadshow. Be warned. we might even let Tony Blackburn tell one of his best jokes this morning.'
