Dr Alan Maryón'Ðavls today, talks about. Jrerbal medecinehow medical substances of .value are extracted from plants and about homeopathy
Herbal medicines provide an alternative form of .treattnent which greater numbers of people are turning to. Some of the world's best-known drugs have their origins in plants and scientists are continually looking for more examples. Many antibiotics are derived from moulds, extract of foxglove helps relieve people of dropsy and aspirin is derived from oil of wintergreen which comes from the willow tree.
Of all the differences throughout the world, the only measurement which remains constant is that of time. Alison Rice takes a few minutes to talk about time. how our daily time division was decided upon and how the 0° line of longitude came to be at Greenwich.

Here are two recent letters to Mailbag which have prompted many of you to write in: ' I am single and quite happy with my life as it is now, so when will people stop asking why I am not married or even courting? This really gets my back up. After all, it is my choice what I do and how I spend my time and money.'
' The mass media and especially the lyrics of pop songs communicate irrational beliefs about the individual and society. These beliefs may then be accepted by the individual and influence his or her perception of the world.'

A week of comings and goings in Waggoners' Walk which sees George Underdown leave Turner's shop and begin a new chapter in his life at No 1. ' We're going to have some good times together ' he tells Arthur - but Arthur Tyson has his reservations about ' that Brewer woman '. In the basement flat of No 1 Shirley and Cliff Edwards decide to face up to their problems over Debbie's baby; and at the Priors Matt struggles to come to terms with Rob's homosexuality. while Lynn faces the problem of Jeremy's custody. Someone whose struggle is just beginning is Liz Warner , our new editor of the Herald - a special welcome awaits her.

Radio l's traditional visit to the most civilised crowd of clowns, hell-bent on having a lot of fun at the 18+ Easter Holiday in Norfolk.
If you are 18 to 30, join 18+ and one thing you are sure to have is a good time.
Every year 18+ club members from all over the UK gather at a Norfolk holiday camp for their annual Easter holiday weekend. Virtually round-the-clock entertainment is provided - it stops when you drop.
The 18+ Easter Radio 1 Roadshow has almost become a tradition and this year it is Peter Powell who risks everything with the friendliest bunch of people you could want to meet.
