                Francis Rossi met Alan Lancaster at school in Catford. While in their early teens, they formed a band and soon drafted John Coghlan , a drummer with another local group. It was at a Butlin's holiday camp that they met Rick Parfitt : in 1966. named the Spectres, they turned professional. As STATUS Quo they broke through in 1968 with ' Pictures of Matchstick Men '.
