  • Bengal Matches

I think they were made for pipe smokers, they were chunky little buggers that burnt for ages, you could even put them in water and they would still keep going. Supplied many a happy hour, when used to destroy you airfix collection, in the back garden, during school holidays, whilst mum and and dad were at work.

Yes I know playing with fire is dangerous, but in the early 70's, we had no thoughts of going off and setting fire to other peoples stuff, we were sensible,(if kids playing with matches can be, I dont know) I dont think that even cross our minds, back then. and to be honest you would to be to scared of the local policeman to even think about it

    Re: Bengal Matches

When I was a kid, everybody over 30 smoked & there were always loads of used matches lying around to make things with. The live ones were kept out of harm's way.
Into the 5th Millennium & beyond...!
