Maroon Singer Vogue, that was a hand - me - down from my dad when he upgraded to a Mk1 Ford Escort.

Registration BWO99B. It had a Motorola radio and a "tape" speedometer. I always laugh when I look back because the 0 - 45 part of the tape had been sun bleached a orangey - red, whilst the 45+ part was pristine scarlet, shows you how fast my dad drove!

I used to enjoy going to watch rallying at that time (70's), and jazzed it up with a pair of Cibie Oscars and a "Chrysler 1600" sun strip - Rootes Group (Singer, Hillman etc) had been bought out by Chrysler at this time. I think they rallied Avengers, so my allegiance was with them, although it was Ford who were in the ascendancy then.

Eventually scrapped off as an MOT failure, front shocks & springs shot.

Was replaced by 941 MOF Austin mini, but that's another story...

    Clive.

The first car I owned was a 1984 A reg Austin Metro and I loved it it was a great little car and I was very sad to let it go. Strangely enough, I bought it off my driving instructors dad!

            Wonder what happened to it?

                            Re: first car

My first car was an Austin Allegro 1300 SDL 1975 model (HGT151N) bought in 1983 for the princely sum of £545. Ran like a dream til I sold her for £200 in 1990.

                                Re: first car

Well, can anyone beat this for a dodgy first car? I had a Skoda Super Estelle 120LE (TOF 797Y) in red handed down when my parent upgraded to a Nissan Cherry! It had a nasty habit of breaking down on islands, at traffic lights or on dual carridgeways, I had it for a year and then upgraded to a Nissan Cherry myself, which at the time I thought was the height of luxury, it had a working heater, stereo, engine, I loved that cat until my girlfriend's spacial awareness let her down and she drove it into a wall while getting onto the drive and knackered the passenger door.
