Duke of Edinburgh Award

Did anybody else take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award at Secondary School?

I did my bronze but then got fed up with it (after I discovered alcohol ).

All the same it was great fun - we did a course at the local Police Station and went camping and hiking and had to make reports on our experiences in a little green book. I still have my Duke of Ed book and I treasure it - I wish I had continued onto the Gold award now.

I wonder if they still do this these days?

Anybody else have any memories of this?

Did both the silver and bronze awards with the Girl's Venture Corps... Air cadets for girls.... REmember hiking to Littledale scout camp and getting lost trying to find and photograph a blasted waterfall. When we got back to camp we found the gas bottle had leaked and had to spend the night in the scout hut amongst all these smelly farting scouts
