  • RIP Diego Maradona

Argentina legend footballer Diego Maradona has died at the age of 60.

To me, he will always be "Mr 1986 World Cup", and as the 1986 World Cup hosted by Mexico that year, also happens to be my earliest memory of the event - Maradona is the first footballer that I can remember taking part in a World Cup event. I have the the Aztec Gold theme tune (later adopted for Saint and Greavesie's theme) to ITV's 1986 World Cup coverage in my head as I am writing this.

Not to be confused of course with Madonna - did anyone on here used to confuse the Argentinian footballer's name with the Material Girl, I wonder? Some people in my class at school back in 1986 did so...

Telling it almost exactly like it was so many years later - and proud of doing so!

Same here George - Maradonna was probably my first Football Memory. 1986 is the Year i probably recall most about football at a young age, but I can recall say the 194/85 Season in part's

In 1987 I can recall going into my "then" Local WH Smiths and getting Footy stickers from the 1986 Season (that no doubt included the 1986 World Cup in Mexico).

It is a travesty Diego thought the need to cheat with a Hand-Ball was needI think, as he was one of the best ever players - in the top 5 to 10 ever easily - though of course the South American's like players from all African Country's are so gifted and in such another Leauge to us European Players - that they are just like magic, like Diego was .... as like the likes ofDider Drogba, Lionel Messi, Chrisitiano Ronaldo and the Brazilan Ronaldo was

Diego for me proved this point when he played and adapted to life in Italy with Napoli - something that granted not man Englishmen/British-Men have done - even going back to the John Charles Day's in the 50s or whenever it was. Elduded to this I'd say along with the Spanish Leauge's the Italian is the one most like the south American ones - but bnot much (though more so compared to France and Germany) but still not a-like

      RIP Diego Maradonna
