  • RIP Diego Maradona

Argentina legend footballer Diego Maradona has died at the age of 60.

To me, he will always be "Mr 1986 World Cup", and as the 1986 World Cup hosted by Mexico that year, also happens to be my earliest memory of the event - Maradona is the first footballer that I can remember taking part in a World Cup event. I have the the Aztec Gold theme tune (later adopted for Saint and Greavesie's theme) to ITV's 1986 World Cup coverage in my head as I am writing this.

Not to be confused of course with Madonna - did anyone on here used to confuse the Argentinian footballer's name with the Material Girl, I wonder? Some people in my class at school back in 1986 did so...

I've everything I need to keep me satisfied
There's nothing you can do to make me change my mind
    I'm having so much fun
    My lucky number's one
    Ah! Oh! Ah! Oh!
