Funnily enough, I managed to get to her Wikipedia page only yesterday when I was clicking on links from one page to another - I was looking at the Wikipedia page for the Squeeze song Cool for Cats which took me to the disambiguation page for that phrase and it took me to the 1960s Associated-Rediffusion series of the same presented by Kent "wrestling" Walton and it mentioned that Stubbs was involved in that. Ironic. .
Una Stubbs was known for being the ladies' team captain on Give us a Clue from 1979 to 1987 until Liza Goddard took over on New Year's Day 1988 - I actually thought that Lionel Blair would go first considering he was a lot older than her. Stubbs was also involved in a 1960s equivalent of that show Don't Say a Word. Of course, she was also known for playing Aunt Sally opposite Jon Pertwee's Worzel Gummidge.
She worked with Sir Cliff Richard in the 1963 film Summer Holiday, played Alf Garnett's daughter in Till Death Us Do Part and In Sickness and in Health. And she appeared in the 1980s Nescafe adverts along with Gareth Hunt, doing that trademark gesture with her hands which had obvious innuendo.
Stubbs was married to Nicky Henson until his death a year or so ago.
I've everything I need to keep me satisfied
There's nothing you can do to make me change my mind
I'm having so much fun
My lucky number's one
Ah! Oh! Ah! Oh!
RIP Una,
Also a legendary player on “ give us a clue”
who can forget a wide eyed amazed una watching rival contestant Lionel Blair, exhausted, on his knees , trying to pull off “12 angry men” within 2 minutes
