  • RIP Paul Cattermole

The late 1990s and early 2000s (mostly 1998 to 2002) gave pop music such colourful and sexy "bubblegum-flavoured" pop groups; Steps were one of them, and of course, S Club 7 was another. They gave an illusion that their members would always be around, even long after splitting up, but sadly, we now know know that one of them has now left us. Paul Cattermole of S Club 7 fame has died aged 46 which was quite a shock as he was only born the year before I was. As a group, they had at least four number ones between 1998 and 2001 with Don't Stop Movin' being their biggest and most successful.

Seeing them perform Don't Stop Movin' at the late Queen Elizabeth II's Party at the Palace for her Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2002 (which I saw myself in the evening after celebrating the Jubilee at a local church), were one of the last public performances that the group made before they had announced that they were to split up soon afterwards; reworded lyrics to the song for the special event were made, and after it was performed, and on stage that night, their departure mentioned by Rachel Stevens - cue a lot of disappointed and saddened audience members as it was a huge shock to them as well; the tragedy was that a comeback tour was on the cards which makes it even more saddening.

I never thought that one of them would pass away as early as this, but it is a shock that it happened as Cattermole is more or less the same age as myself. My sympathies go to his family, friends and S Club bandmates.

It certainly has not been a very "Good" Friday as we thought it would be this year.

I've everything I need to keep me satisfied
There's nothing you can do to make me change my mind
    I'm having so much fun
    My lucky number's one
    Ah! Oh! Ah! Oh!
Working...
