RIP Glenda Jackson 1936-2023

Glenda May Jackson CBE (9 May 1936 – 15 June 2023) was an English actress and politician. She was one of the few artists to achieve the Triple Crown of Acting, having won two Academy Awards, three Emmy Awards, and a Tony Award. She was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in 1978.

She has died on 15 June 2023 following a brief illness, at the age of 87.

She will be remembered primarily as an actress rather than as a politician a la Tracy Brabin and others. No doubt that had she just been an MP, I don't think that I would have seen her obituary thread on here!

In addition to working with Morecambe and Wise, there was a PIF on the Charley Live video in which Jackson and Ernie Wise did one in around 1980 about giving blood or blood transfusions which I don't remember seeing on TV originally. I assume that as she worked with Eric and Ernie originally, the producers thought "how about Jackson and Wise, instead?"
