I had a radio alarm clock. I specifically remember waking up every day—during a miserable dark winter week in 1996—to the song “Neighbourhood” by Space. Whenever I hear the song, I’m instantly transported back in time—14-year-old me—lying in my council flat bedroom, wishing that I did not have to go to school. Once I was out of bed and ready for the day, I’d go into the lounge with my bowl of cereal, and watch 20 minutes of The Big Breakfast
