It's a pity that there aren't any charactrtistic horses like Red Rum and Desert Orchid in the races these days - this year's Grand National won't be much to write home about uinlike the 1970s heyday.

Scobie Breasley Ron Hutchinson Geoff Lewis Duncan Keith Lester Piggott Pat Eddery.

Jockeys that wernt so good but are better trainers.

I think that like a lot of people, it was only the Grand National which would give mainstream interest to the public.

Can you name any top jockeys that never made it to become a top class trainer.?

first one Walter Swinburn ,there is plenty more

Jockeys who wasnt as good have become better trainers.
